The Dead Man’s Hand is the Ace and the Eight. Our rendition on our poker shirts is the Ace of Spades and the Eight of Spades. The game being played while Wild Bill Hitchcock was playing was Five Card Draw, not Hold’em and the exact hand is unknown. However the hand was definitely a Two-Pair “Aces over Eights” and the kicker to this day is still disputed. Some say it was the Queen of Spades and other say it was a 5 of Clubs.
